Latheefa questioned whether Anwar would commit to using all legal avenues to oppose Najib’s early release, given the severity of the 1MDB theft. Anwar, addressing backlash, defended his acceptance of Najib’s apology, stating that as prime minister he should respond with goodwill when approached sincerely, despite differing public opinions.
