With Malaysia’s healthcare system under growing strain, experts and advocates are urging the government to pursue genuine, systemic reform. Galen Centre CEO Azrul Mohd Khalib warned that cosmetic fixes are insufficient, calling for major changes including price transparency, a national health insurance model, digital integration, and stronger oversight.

FOMCA president Dr Saravanan Thambirajah echoed these concerns, highlighting spiraling private healthcare costs and underfunded public services.

Both stressed the need for legislation, public engagement, and prioritising underserved groups. While a new high-level task force has been formed, stakeholders insist bold leadership and action—not promises—are needed to build a fair, affordable healthcare system.
