Allowing civil servants to work from home (WFH) will not negatively impact Malaysia’s economy, according to Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.
He said productivity can be maintained through proper monitoring and digital systems, especially as flexible work arrangements become more common.

Akmal stressed that WFH could even reduce operational costs and improve work-life balance for employees.
The government is exploring structured implementation to ensure service delivery remains efficient while adapting to modern workforce expectations. The proposal is expected to be rolled out gradually with safeguards in place.
