Sanusi’s ‘Pecah Perut’ Remark Now Clarified, Not Directed at Anwar

1 min read

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — Kedah Menteri Besar’s political secretary Zulkifli Yahaya has clarified that Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s controversial “pecah perut” remark was not aimed at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Instead, he said the phrase expressed anger towards gambling bosses allegedly funding legal challenges against the state government’s move to halt gambling licences.

Zulkifli urged the public to listen to Sanusi’s full speech to understand the context. However, PAS Central Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari noted that the remark was later linked to Anwar, sparking claims that Sanusi had wished harm upon the prime minister.

Pecah Perut

“Suddenly the story became Datuk Sanusi prayed for Anwar to ‘pecah perut’. Eh? So who actually sponsored those gambling bosses?” Fadhli asked.

The controversy has added fuel to ongoing political tensions surrounding Kedah’s anti-gambling stance and its broader implications for federal-state relations.
