New: BN Says Tabung Haji RCI Will Not Shake Voter Support

1 min read

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29, 2026 – Umno Supreme Council member Razlan Rafii has dismissed concerns that the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji (TH) will erode voter support for Barisan Nasional (BN). He argued that Malaysians are increasingly discerning and view the issue as “political games.”

“People today are smarter in seeking information, they look at the cost of living, how subsidies are managed, and how they earn their daily income. They know this is political play,” Razlan told reporters after a dinner event in Sungai Besar.

On Aug 27, former TH chairman and a former Treasury secretary-general were remanded for seven days to assist investigations under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009.

Razlan also responded to Pakatan Harapan (PH) election director Amirudin Shari, who urged BN to be sincere in cooperation. Razlan insisted BN remains committed to the unity government until the end of its term, despite pressure to withdraw support. “PH should ask DAP, which often threatens the prime minister. Don’t say we are not sincere,” he said.

He added that BN and PH have no permanent pact, stressing cooperation must be based on mutual trust rather than rigid preconditions.
