Singapore Airlines Ltd achieved its second-highest quarterly profit ever, reporting a 27% increase in net income to S$707 million (US$522 million) in the second quarter through September, driven by strong flight demand that maintained elevated airfares.
Singapore Airlines’ record breaking profits
Total passenger traffic, including low-cost unit Scoot, increased by 42% to 8.9 million, while the group’s capacity is projected to reach about 92% of pre-pandemic levels in December. The airline warned of potential challenges due to normalizing air travel and heightened geopolitical and macroeconomic risks, causing the airline’s shares to rise by up to 2.4%.
