Singapore Vessel Hijacked In Ivory Coast On April 9

‘Success 9’, the Singapore flagged vessel, remains uncontactable after being boarded by pirates says the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore on Thursday, April 13. The ship was hijacked on April 9.

Vessel Boarded

The vessel was boarded by pirates around 570km off the Ivory Coast and is a chemical and oil product tanker that has 20 crew members on board and one of them was a Singaporean.

The Ivory Coast authorities have deployed their air and sea assets to the vicinity of the last known position of the vessel to search for the black hulled tanker. Piracy is still active along some coasts of Africa.
