At least 34 people died after a tourist boat capsized in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay during a sudden storm on Saturday afternoon. The vessel, carrying 48 passengers and five crew members, overturned amid heavy rain and strong winds brought by Storm Wipha. Border guards rescued 11 survivors while eight remain missing as search operations continue into the night. Most passengers were families from Hanoi, including over 20 children. A 10-year-old boy described escaping by swimming through a gap. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed condolences and ordered an investigation into the tragedy at the UNESCO World Heritage site.
