PETALING JAYA, July 5 – The Immigration Department has detained a Bangladeshi man after a viral post allegedly showed him holding both a Malaysian passport and a Bangladeshi passport. Immigration director‑general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said a special task force was formed with the National Registration Department to trace the suspect.

Acting on intelligence, six officers raided a container in Kuantan on July 4 and found the man inside. Searches uncovered two expired Malaysian passports and a Seafarer’s Service Book belonging to a Malaysian citizen. The suspect was taken to the Kuantan Immigration Office to assist investigations.
