New: Syed Saddiq Marries Bella Astillah at Merdeka 118

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer‑actress Bella Astillah officially tied the knot today in a solemnisation ceremony held at the iconic Merdeka 118 precinct. The ceremony, officiated by former Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al‑Bakri, saw Bella given away by her father, Awang Astillah Abdullah.

The groom presented a mas kahwin of RM500, with seven gift trays exchanged for nine from the bride. Both wore Arabic‑themed attire designed by Zaimi Zulkafli, with 255 guests attending the milestone event — the first wedding hosted at Merdeka 118.

The marriage followed Syed Saddiq’s viral Threads post during Budget 2027, where he quipped: “Today is for the rakyat, tomorrow is for the wife. (I) need to show up for both.” The post drew over 170,000 views.

The couple will host a dinner reception at MITEC on Oct 18, followed by Kenduri Rakyat sessions in Muar and Kota Kinabalu later this month.
