A 54-year-old man was killed by a tiger in Gerik, Perak, on the morning of October 15. Perak police chief Azizi Mat Aris said the man, a heavy machinery operator, was attacked while heading to the toilet near his residence on the Gerik-Jeli stretch of the East-West Highway. His wife, a Thai national, witnessed the attack and saw the tiger dragging him into nearby bushes. A search and rescue team found his body about 100 meters from the house, with severe leg and neck injuries. The incident has been classified as a sudden death.
