President Donald Trump has exempted key agricultural imports—including coffee, cocoa, bananas, and certain beef products—from higher tariff rates in a bid to ease grocery costs.

The reversal comes amid political backlash over rising food prices, with beef, coffee, and chocolate costs surging due to earlier duties. The exemptions also cover fruits like avocados, oranges, and pineapples, as well as tea and spices. 

While the move aims to moderate inflation, experts warn global supply shortages continue to drive prices. Ranchers, roasters, and chocolate makers have struggled under steep tariffs, leaving consumers facing double-digit increases in beef, coffee, and cocoa products.
