Two Men Seen Sitting on Moving Car’s Roof in Johor, Driver Summoned

A video has gone viral showing two men sitting on the roof of a moving car, reportedly in Johor. In the footage, filmed by another road user, the men are seen perched on top of a blue Proton Wira as it travels along the road.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have since confirmed that the car’s driver has been identified and issued summonses.

Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei said police came across the video and photos on social media at about 9am on Oct 24. After investigations, the driver was identified on Oct 25.

The driver was issued summonses under Sections 47, 26 and 23 of the Road Transport Act 1987. These cover carrying passengers in a dangerous manner, not having valid insurance coverage, and driving without a valid driving licence.

Azrul Hisham stressed that police take such behaviour seriously, as it endangers the driver, the passengers and other road users. He reminded the public to always follow traffic laws and put safety first on the road.
