PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) defended PAS against Umno’s Puad Zarkashi, who blamed PAS’s Islamic state narrative for Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) rejection by non-Malays in the Ayer Kuning by-election. MIPP president SP Punithan called Puad’s critique ironic, highlighting Umno’s sidelining of MCA and MIC, dismissing the Malaysian Indian Congress as a “liability” while courting DAP. Punithan praised PN’s transparent partnership with MIPP and PAS’s sensitivity to Indian struggles, contrasting it with the Unity Government’s failure to address Indian community issues. He invited disillusioned Indians to join PN and MIPP for a fairer, united Malaysia.
