How Many Years Do We Have Before AI Kills Us?

1 min read

This is a question asked by Elon Musk to Marc Andreessen@pmarca who said on Twitter: Ask Me Anything about Artificial Intelligence, or any of the topics in Why Artificial Intelligence Will Save The World, as responses to this tweet and I will answer as many as I can.

Expert View

The answer did not come in the simplest form and it is not from Andreessen. Here is what experts and Artificial Intelligence builders are saying:

Ed Leon Klinger@edleonklinger: “This is an excellent article in many ways: it lays out an optimistic, exciting future for AI that we can all get behind. Thank you for writing it @pmarca.”

AI Risks

“However: in my view the chapter on mitigating AI risk (‘Will AI Kill Us All?’) falls short. So to my question(s) — 1. How can we as a society quickly come a consensus (as @geoffreyhinton/@AndrewYNg have suggested) on the scope/scale/nature of Artificial Intelligence risks? 2. Once we have that consensus, what is the role of the regulators AND startups/VCs in ensuring that those risks don’t come to pass?
