KOTA KINABALU – A senior Malaysian civil servant, a Datuk, was fined three buffaloes and RM3,000 by the Papar District Native Court for enticing the wife of another Datuk. The 57-year-old defendant, who failed to appear in court, was found guilty of violating Kadazandusun customs by interfering with the plaintiff’s 30-year-old wife. The 76-year-old plaintiff submitted evidence, including WhatsApp messages and photos, to support his claims. The court’s chief, Alexander Malianus, emphasized the seriousness of the offense and reminded all to respect the sanctity of marriage. The defendant can appeal the ruling within 60 days.
