The PN opposition is trolling PH-BN on X saying the ‘unity government’ has some legitimacy issues. Cytros from PN are posting an interview of Syamsul Iskandar, the advisor in the PMO to the Prime Minister, saying the deal was made before the King decided on the unity government.
They also question the role of Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the negotiations, saying he bypassed the party’s central committee and, thus, it was ‘illegal.’ In an interview, the Secretary General of Umno, Asyraf Wajdi, said Zahid had the full mandate Umno gave him as the leader of the party to negotiate a coalition deal if BN did not get the majority in the November 2022 polls. Zahid simply did not want to work with PN-PAS.
On another aspect, parties discuss alliances during and after elections, and there is nothing ‘illegal’ if PH-BN discusses such a possibility before the polls. It shows the maturity of the parties. Did the PN-PAS unit fail to understand the role of peaceful, democratic processes before the elections? That is why they are left behind.
