Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Adly Zahari has challenged Barisan Nasional (BN) to back up its 97% manifesto claim by publishing a full list of its achievements, Free Malaysia Today reported, citing Bernama.
Adly, who is defending the Bukit Katil seat in the state election, was speaking at a press conference at PH’s operations room in Bukit Baru, Melaka, according to the report published on Sunday (Nov 8).
Response to 97% Manifesto Claim
Melaka BN chairman and Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said on Saturday (Nov 7) that the state government had fulfilled 97% of its 2021 manifesto pledges, based on a review covering 2021 to 2026.
The 2021 state election manifesto contained 103 initiatives under five main thrusts.
Adly said a percentage figure on its own was not enough, and that BN should list the status of all 103 initiatives “so voters can make their own assessment”.
He said transparency was important so that commitments could be judged on what had actually been implemented.
Adly Cites State Deficit
Adly also raised the state’s finances, citing the Auditor-General’s Report, which showed Melaka recorded a deficit in 2024 with revenue of RM490 million against expenditure of RM519 million.
He said this pointed to the need for prudent financial management and properly documented spending, adding that “expenditure management must also be given priority”.
Adly said Melaka had recorded a surplus of RM50 million in 2019, when he led the state government.
Polling in the Melaka state election is on Nov 14, with early voting on Nov 10.
