Negeri Sembilan has banned alcohol consumption at public beaches in Port Dickson, as well as public fields, children’s playgrounds, and recreational parks, following numerous public complaints. The state’s Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, announced the decision after a state executive council meeting on July 2, citing nuisances, littering, broken glass injuries, and fights caused by alcohol consumption. Violators face fines up to RM2,000 (S$600), with local councils tasked to enforce the ban. Current by-laws do not explicitly prohibit public drinking, previously limiting authorities to issuing warnings.
