ATLANTA, July 9 – The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has filed a complaint to FIFA alleging serious refereeing errors in their 3-2 loss to Argentina in the World Cup Round of 16. EFA president Hany Aburida claimed “serious mistakes and unequal treatment” led to Egypt’s elimination.

Controversy erupted when Mostafa Ziko’s goal was disallowed after VAR ruled a foul on Lisandro Martínez. Egypt later argued they should have been awarded a penalty before Argentina’s winner, citing a foul by Alexis Mac Allister.
