Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed Transport Minister Anthony Loke to urgently address persistent overcrowding on train services, warning that it is disrupting the daily lives of commuters.
The directive came after a Threads user, siti.anisahj, posted photos showing packed trains and stations, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, and appealed for additional train carriages.
The user on Threads had this to say: “Assalam @anwaribrahim_my Nak minta gerabak train lebih sikit boleh? Hari2 begini 🥹 Drive jem, naik train full 🥺.”
Responding publicly, Anwar said he had also directed Rapid KL to investigate the issue and implement a swift solution, stressing that the government must be more responsive to public concerns.

anwaribrahim_my: “Wassalam. Saya mohon
His response gained significant attention, attracting over 80,000 likes and 4,300 reposts.
Disruptions and cable theft
The overcrowding issue follows recent disruptions to rail services, including cable theft incidents that affected KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit operations on October 12.
Earlier, on October 8, heavy passenger traffic caused severe congestion on the Kajang MRT Line, leaving many commuters stranded at several stations across Klang Valley.
On October 12, KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services were reportedly disrupted following two cable theft incidents within several hours along the airport rail corridor.
