The Malaysian Immigration Department has dismantled a migrant smuggling syndicate known as “Geng Ashraf,” which allegedly earned RM2.4 million since January 2025. Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the group charged up to RM8,000 per migrant, smuggling foreign nationals via Kelantan before moving them to the Klang Valley.
Migrant Smuggling
In a raid at 12.40am in Ampang, officers arrested 27 Bangladeshi men believed to have been smuggled, along with three suspected syndicate members guarding the transit house. The migrants, aged 20 to 49, are detained at the Putrajaya Immigration Depot under Act 670. Strict enforcement against immigration violations was emphasised.
