KOTA BHARU – Express bus operators in Kelantan are struggling as their monthly 6,000-litre subsidised diesel quota under the SKDS scheme lasts only 20 days. E-Mutiara Berhad executive chairman Che Ibrahim Che Ismail said operators are then forced to buy diesel at RM6.72 per litre, adding up to RM10,000 extra monthly per bus.

He noted rationing at petrol stations worsens the situation, causing buses to stop repeatedly on long routes such as Kota Bharu-Kuala Lumpur. With fares regulated since 2008 despite rising costs, operators now face negative margins. Che Ibrahim urged government intervention to ensure smooth operations, especially ahead of Aidiladha.
