BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Kelantan have reached a consensus on seat allocation as part of their preparations for the upcoming state elections (PRN). PH requested 14 out of the 45 seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), which was agreed upon by both parties.
BN PH splitting seat allocations
Zawawi Othman, Umno Kelantan’s Chief Information Officer, highlighted the smooth distribution process and cooperation between BN and PH, with no objections raised. BN intends to field their candidates in all the DUN seats they won in the 2018 general elections. The automatic dissolution of the Kelantan DUN on June 26 will pave the way for the PRN.
Challenges await BN and PH as they strive to challenge PAS Kelantan’s 33-year rule. In the previous general election, PAS secured all 14 parliamentary seats in the state. PH’s allocated seats encompass Pasir Pekan, Panchor, Tanjong Mas, Kota Lama, Pengkalan Pasir, Chetok, Pasir Tumboh, Demit, Tawang, Kadok, Bukit Panau, Limbongan, Temangan, and Mengkebang, with the possibility of further seat additions pending discussions and decisions by the top leadership of both parties.
