With only RM33 left in his savings, entrepreneur Ade Azhar Ismail returned to his roots by selling nasi lemak from the boot of his car.
Ade, once the CEO of a distribution company with 60 employees and a five‑figure income, faced financial struggles when his business began operating at a deficit. Choosing not to draw a salary, he turned to roadside sales to support himself and keep his company afloat.

Initially embarrassed, Ade overcame his hesitation and sold 30 packets on his first day — every one of them gone by evening.
Encouraged, he continued, earning RM9,000 in profit within his first month. By day 53, he had recruited workers and expanded to five locations, selling up to 1,200 packets daily in two shifts. His venture gained traction after a TikTok video went viral, drawing customers from near and far.
Ade admitted the work was tiring and weather posed challenges, but he found joy in meeting supportive customers. He urged others facing hardship to let go of ego and embarrassment, take the first step, and rebuild from the bottom.
For him, the journey was not just about survival but a reminder to reflect, improve, and rise again with resilience.
