At a hawker centre, food vlogger Dawei and public figure Dato’ Tony encountered an unexpected conflict. Tony joked with a Char Kuey Teow vendor, asking if the dish was good, or if he would cook it himself.

The vendor was amused, but another vendor, an uncle, took offence. The uncle confronted Tony, leading to a heated exchange. Tony suggested the uncle leave him alone to enjoy his meal.
The uncle retaliated with a rude gesture. Dawei tried to mediate and the matter was de-escalated by a security officer. The video was removed from Dawei’s social media but continues to circulate on Facebook.
