The Kuala Lumpur High Court sentenced Bangladeshi construction worker Md Romjan Ali, 41, to 18 months’ jail and one stroke of the cane for molesting five women at LRT and MRT stations last month. Judge Aslam Zainuddin overturned earlier magistrates’ rulings of six months’ jail and fines totalling RM14,500, imposing a global sentence instead.

Romjan admitted to using criminal force to molest a German woman and four local women aged 21 to 28. The offences occurred between April 10 and 25 at Chan Sow Lin LRT, Maluri MRT, and on trains between Taman Midah and Muzium Negara.
