Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook confirmed that the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) retrieved the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) data from the Bandar Elmina aircraft crash two weeks ago. The AAIB head sent the CVR’s “memory puck” to its Florida-based manufacturer.

Loke mentioned the CVR’s clarity, especially the last 30 minutes before the crash, and its analysis to determine the crash’s causes. A preliminary report will be available in about two weeks, with the comprehensive report expected in a year. Malaysia initially relied on Singapore’s Transport Safety Investigation Bureau (TSIB) for CVR retrieval but was unsuccessful.
The tragic crash, which killed ten people, including Pahang executive councilor Johari Harun, happened on August 17th near Bandar Elmina during a flight from Langkawi to Subang airport.
