Could a high-speed rail solve the Hari Raya highway chaos?

1 min read

Many people are in shock and are still telling of their ordeal of being stuck in traffic jams on highways, some for 10 to 20 hours, during the Hari Raya rush back home from ‘kampung’ but would a high-speed rail solve the problems? Those rides normally take 4-6 hours by car, the users say.

But the question is whether a high-speed rail system would be beneficial to the economy and whether it will be a huge investment that is not used by the car-owners and become a white elephant?

A netizen said a trip within Kelantan, starting at 10 am from Kok Lanas to reach an R&R in Gua Musang at 7 pm. Tun Dr Mahathir has dismissed arguments that an HSR will be beneficial to local folks, saying Malaysians love to drive their cars long distance. What say, you, folks?
