Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured that the upcoming electricity tariff adjustments in Peninsular Malaysia under the Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) mechanism will not burden the public. He clarified that the increase is not 14% and will be based on a six-month price review. Anwar acknowledged a slight rise but emphasized that it is necessary and manageable. He also noted that additional revenue from tariffs would support sectors like education and healthcare. Addressing concerns, he reassured that the impact would be minimal. The new tariff schedule is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
