SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran to cease all military operations in the Middle East and establish a framework for further negotiations.

MFA commended Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation efforts, stressing that resolving outstanding issues in line with international law would pave the way for lasting peace and stability. Singapore also highlighted the commitment under the MOU to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, urging all parties to uphold obligations under UNCLOS and ensure safe transit for seafarers and ships, says Vivian Balakrishnan.
