Falling Container
Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrudin Mat Husain said preliminary investigations found the Hino container lorry had stopped in the left lane to load a container that had been placed beside the road.
While the container was being lifted onto the trailer, it reportedly lost balance and toppled onto the victims’ vehicle travelling towards Sepanggar Port.
Firefighters, assisted by two cranes, took more than three hours to free the trapped vehicle. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
