Father Fined RM15,000 After 15 Year Old Son’s Driving Kills Five in Kuching Crash

A 35-year-old father was fined RM15,000 and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service for allowing his 15-year-old son to drive unsupervised, resulting in a deadly crash in Kuching that killed five people.

He pleaded guilty under Section 33(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. His son, who also pleaded guilty, faces charges under Section 41(1) and Section 39(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous and underage driving. 

The fatal January 14 crash involved multiple vehicles and motorcycles. The teenager’s case has been adjourned to June 17 pending a probation report, with bail set at RM5,000.
