1 min read

Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yassin faces accusations of spending RM300 million in government funds over one year for promotional and publicity purposes during his three-year tenure as Prime Minister.

Former Prime Minister accused of misusing RM300 million

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed that from 2020 to 2022, the government, under the Perikatan Nasional at the time, spent a total of RM700 million, which he deems excessive and a violation of governance.

Mahiaddin served as the 8th Prime Minister for 18 months from March 1, 2020, before resigning on August 16, 2021. Anwar has directed future spending to proceed with existing contracts and urged officials to engage directly with the public for explanations.
