A former soldier was arrested by the police after causing injuries to his mother in Kampung Gual Jedok, Tanah Merah last Saturday. The victim suffered swollen injuries on her head, forehead, eyes, and body pains.
Soldier stomping on mother for drugs
The police managed to apprehend the 32-year-old suspect after family members reported the incident. The soldier admitted to stomping and hitting the victim because she did not give him RM20 to buy drugs. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and has two past records related to drug cases.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act. The suspect is currently remanded for four days starting yesterday, while the 65-year-old victim received external treatment at the Tanah Merah Hospital. The suspect was discharged from the army due to drug problems and has a mental patient card. The police hope that everyone will play a role in efforts to combat drug abuse.
