A Harvard-educated lawyer, Tim Damiani, swindled a friend out of £2 million and gambled it away in a Monte Carlo casino. Despite being jailed for 20 months, he’s set to walk free after serving four years on remand.
Friend’s trust betrayed
Damiani, 70, convinced Aysun Kibar to invest £1.5 million in a Mayfair property she never saw, then denied any knowledge when she demanded her money back. The conman’s deceit led to an immediate release, but no compensation order has been made yet.
Damiani’s health concerns, including upcoming heart surgery, influenced the judge’s decision. He was extradited from Italy in 2020, pleading guilty to theft.
