‘Furiosa’ sneaks past ‘Garfield’ to claim No. 1 spot in the U.S.

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” narrowly topped the box office, earning an estimated $32 million over the four-day weekend, just ahead of Sony’s “The Garfield Movie,” which made $31.1 million. Final numbers will be reported on Tuesday, but for now, Warner Bros claims the No. 1 spot.

Furiosa beats Garfield

Internationally, “Furiosa” has grossed $64.8 million. Despite a production budget of $168 million, the film, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, had a strong debut. Meanwhile, “The Garfield Movie,” featuring Chris Pratt’s voice, has already surpassed its $60 million budget, earning over $91.1 million globally, ensuring its success this summer.
