Following the recent victories of PN and BN in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang signaled that the cooperation formula may differ in Melaka.
He stressed that the official name of the alliance was not important, but unity and joint effort mattered most.
Hadi Awang Notes BN Holds No Seats in Melaka
Hadi Awang noted that unlike Negeri Sembilan, BN holds no parliamentary seats in Melaka, while PN — through PAS and Bersatu — won constituencies such as Jasin, Tangga Batu, and Masjid Tanah.
The remaining seats, Alor Gajah, Hang Tuah Jaya, and Kota Melaka, are controlled by PH. He said PN would discuss seat allocations differently from Negeri Sembilan, reflecting local realities.
He emphasized that PAS did not quarrel over exco appointments in Negeri Sembilan, where BN dominated and rightfully appointed the chief minister. For PAS, positions are distributed based on seats won, avoiding disputes.
The PN‑BN partnership in Negeri Sembilan delivered a two‑thirds majority, but Abdul Hadi hinted that Melaka’s strategy could change. He underscored that unity remains the priority, while the details of cooperation will depend on Melaka’s political landscape.
