Housewife Loses RM112,000 in Facebook Job Scam

A 27-year-old housewife from Dungun lost RM112,206 to a job scam syndicate after responding to a fake job advertisement on Facebook, according to Dungun police chief Supt Maizura Abdul Kadir.

The victim was promised high commissions and was added to a WhatsApp group after paying an initial RM100. Over time, she made 28 transactions into 10 bank accounts, using her savings. Suspicion arose when the scammer refused a refund, claiming the company’s account was frozen.

Realizing she was conned, she lodged a police report. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
