Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has confirmed that he has filed a lawsuit against rapper and social media personality Caprice over allegations that he accepted bribes linked to a private-sector project.
Rafizi said the lawsuit was filed earlier and the case is currently ongoing in court.
Rafizi says lawsuit against Caprice is his first legal action over defamation
Rafizi said Caprice had previously held a press conference claiming that he had sued Rafizi after accusing him of making allegedly defamatory statements.
However, Rafizi clarified that he had already taken legal action over the corruption allegations but chose not to publicly discuss the matter while court proceedings were underway.
The Bersama Malaysia president said this was the first time in his political career that he had sued an individual over alleged defamation.
Rafizi said he had previously chosen to respond to accusations without taking legal action, particularly when the allegations came from ordinary members of the public. He said the matter would now be left to the lawyers and the court process.
