IPOH, Jan 25 — The Ipoh City Council is planning a comprehensive electric bus service, aiming to enhance green mobility in the city. Perak local government committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching confirmed the initiative is in its early stages, with fare structures, routes, and management still under study.

Unlike Taiping’s heritage trail-focused electric bus route launched in 2023, Ipoh’s service will cover a broader network. Ng highlighted the project’s potential to promote electric vehicle infrastructure, aligning with Ipoh’s goal of becoming an EV-friendly city. The plans complement the upcoming Ipoh Sentral transit hub, a 20-year development integrating modern transportation with urban amenities.
