At about 12.05am on Saturday, patrol officers spotted the vehicle on Tessensohn Road and signalled the driver to stop. He allegedly sped off, and officers gave chase.

The BMW went through the junction of Race Course Road and Birch Road, hit a white private-hire vehicle and overturned onto the divider.

The private-hire driver, 36, and two female passengers aged between 29 and 42 were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, all conscious. The 33-year-old was taken to Changi General Hospital, also conscious.

AsiaOne reported seeing at least two Traffic Police expressway patrol cars, two Traffic Police motorcycles, four ambulances and seven police fast-response cars at the scene at about 12.50am.

Beer, vodka and sharp objects found

After the car was towed, at least six cans of beer and a bottle of vodka were removed from it, along with at least four sharp objects, including scissors, a penknife and two letter-opener knives.

The man was to be charged in court on Saturday morning with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means under the Penal Code and failing to provide a breath specimen under the Road Traffic Act. Police said they have zero tolerance for such acts.
