SHAH ALAM – Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif, Head of Corporate and Public Relations at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), speaking to a local media outlet, clarified that selling pork or non-halal items is prohibited in public areas, particularly night markets, under MBSA business regulations. The statement came after a viral video on TikTok sparked debate. It shows a stall openly selling it at the Setia Alam night market. The 30-second clip, shared on Monday, showed a “pork crispy” stall operating among other vendors, including Muslim traders. The issue raised concerns over whether selling non-halal products openly in public markets is permissible. A woman in the video questioned the practice, stating it violated norms for markets with Muslim traders.
