New Monkeypox Case Detected in Malaysia, Patient in Isolation

The Ministry of Health announced a new monkeypox (mpox) case on Sept 17. The male patient showed symptoms on Sept 11, including fever, sore throat, and cough, followed by a rash on Sept 12. He has no recent travel history and is in stable condition in isolation.

New Monkeypox Case Detected in Malaysia, Patient in Isolation

Authorities are tracing his contacts. Out of 58 suspected cases this year, one was confirmed as mpox clade II on Sept 16, bringing Malaysia’s total to 10 cases since July last year. Mpox was declared a public health emergency on Aug 14 due to the spread of the clade 1b variant.
