A 31-year-old unregistered children’s care home operator, S Valan, pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to two charges of committing carnal intercourse against a 15-year-old boy in 2023. The offences, under Sections 377B and 377C of the Penal Code, carry up to 20 years’ imprisonment and caning.

Prosecutors opposed bail, citing the victim’s age and Valan’s position of trust, but Judge Suhaila Haron granted RM9,000 bail per charge with conditions. The case will be mentioned again on June 8. Valan also faces separate sexual assault charges against four boys in Ampang Sessions Court.
