The debate is on and many believe Vietnam should not have been given a penalty in the match versus Malaysia last night won by the Vietnamese by 3-0 in the Group B of the AFF at the National Stadium My Dinh, Hanoi. The debate is on. Penalty for Vietnam valid or not?

Penalty For Vietnam?

A former referee for Malaysia Subkhiddin Mohd Salleh reportedly said the match referee Ryuji Sato should have penalised the violent action by the Vietnamese player before the penalty moment.

Doan Van Hau committed a foul against Azam Azmi Murad when the ball was still outside the penalty area but the ref did not take any action on that.

Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Toan was sent off in the 33rd minute but this did not help Malaysia to take advantage in this away match after a controversial decision to award a penalty to Vietnam by Japanese referee Sato Ryuji. The ref also gave a red card to Azam, which made things worst for the Malaysian national team. A bad memory, a bad penalty? What say you?
