He alleges the move was driven by political pressure rather than national interest, warning it may harm Petronas’ long-term stability. Citing CEO Tengku Muhammad Taufik’s remark that the company could shut down in a decade without restructuring, Iswardy criticised Sarawak’s GPS for “killing the golden goose.” The dispute stems from the 2017 formation of state-owned Petros, creating overlapping authority with Petronas and sparking federal-state tensions over resource control.
