Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad clarified that the call by nine PKR MPs for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into judicial appointments does not reflect a loss of confidence in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He said the open demand was made to protect the integrity of Malaysia’s judiciary. Speaking on Wednesday, Nik Nazmi stressed that the credibility of the judicial institution is a fundamental issue requiring urgent attention. The MPs had urged an RCI to address delays in appointing the Chief Justice and President of the Federal Court, posts seen as crucial to uphold judicial independence and public trust.
