SHAH ALAM, June 20, 2025 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has condemned the authorities’ actions against Pahang MCA Youth Chief Wong Siew Mun, labeling the summoning, recording of statements, and seizure of her phone as unjust political intimidation, violating constitutional free speech rights. Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan criticized the investigation under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications Act as excessive, especially over her concerns about personal data safety. MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong confirmed Wong’s questioning at Bukit Aman regarding a video citing the South China Morning Post and MCMC’s data directive. Wan Saiful urged halting data collection until parliamentary oversight is established.
