KUALA LUMPUR, June 20, 2025 – Malaysia reported its first Covid-19 death of 2025 in Epidemiological Week 24 (ME24), involving a patient with heart disease and diabetes who lacked a second booster dose, the Health Ministry announced today. This contrasts with 57 deaths in 2024, the last on May 26. Despite a rise in cases to 3,379 from 2,011 last week, the situation remains controlled, with 21,738 cases this year averaging 900 weekly. Six ICU admissions, all with comorbidities, saw four discharged and two moved to general wards. The ministry urges adherence to vaccination schedules.
